2000/02 Auswärtstrikot

The 2000/02 Auswärtstrikot is of the same essential construction as the 1999/01 home shirt, but with a red and white striped design that takes its cues from the shirts worn in the early 1970s.

There are three wide vertical red stripes on both the from and back of this design, and has a white v-necked collar with blue edging. Separating the white shoulder section from the main body of the shirt – on both sides – is a horizontal dark blue line, while the three stripes running down the shoulder are also in dark blue. The Adidas logo is stitched in dark blue thread on the left side of the chest opposite the woven club badge, while the dark blue embossed Opel logo is inside a white rectangle that is part of the actual shirt composition.

At the lower left is a new style horizontal tab patch with the letters “FCB” and “Authentic Licensed Product”, while on the top of the back is the familiar “FC Bayern München”, embossed in dark blue.

I purchased this particular Trikot directly from the club shop, and it includes a number of customised features. By this time you could buy a shirt with a particular player’s squad number, and I would chose that of Bosnian winger Hasan Salihamidžić. Salihamidžić’s name and number have been applied to the back using the traditional transfer method, and his number twenty is in dark blue with a silver outline. The square patch on the left sleeve, another custom addition, is the first official logo of the Bundesliga.
