The rather questionable navy blue home shirt would be followed at the turn of the millennium by a more traditional-looking red and dark blue design, but one that would still have a number of modern features.
The 1999/01 Trikot is a traditional Bayern red, with a blue v-neck and collar with white edging. The shoulders are in blue with white piping, containing the three Adidas stripes with a thin red edge. The white Adidas logo on the left of the chest and the FC Bayern crest on the right are both stitched, while the white Opel logo is embossed. On the top of the back of the shirt is the “FC Bayern München”, also embossed in white.
There is an “Official Replica” patch on the lower left, but one of the more significant design features is the actual shape of the shirt – a fashionably curved base edged with blue material. With players having to tuck their shirts in, this is clearly made for the casual wearer.
